There are two different and very distinct color morphs of the Gray-Banded Kingsnake. The individual pictured above is a "Blair's" morph from Kinney County, Texas at the extreme eastern edge of the range for this species. This secretive and nocturnal serpent spends most of it's life deep in limestone crevices which are abundant throughout it's range. Adults of this species are normally 28 to 36 inches in length. They feed primarily on lizards and small rodents. This attractive and harmless snake is found throughout the Trans-Pecos Region of Texas and adjacant northern Mexico.
